The body of McKell Isaac Brockbank was found Friday night, Nov. 3, after having been swept off a jetty on the Oregon Coast on Oct. 28.

A passerby on the beach found Brockbank's body six miles south of the Siuslaw River, said Chuck Tidball, Lane County deputy sheriff.

Brockbank's identification was on the body, Tidball said.

Brockbank's body was taken to Riverside Chapel Mortuary in Florence, Ore., before being returned to his family, Tidball said.

"His body was not taken to the coroner's office because there was no suspicion of foul play," Tidball said.

Brockbank, 24, a sophomore from Ann Arbor, Mich., majoring in theatre and media arts, was visiting friends in Oregon when the accident occurred.

Friends of Brockbank spoke with his parents on BYU campus Thursday, Nov. 2, to share memories of their friend.

"I was most impressed that he cared more about other people than himself," said Tim Skousen, 25, a senior from Winter Park, Fla., majoring in theatre and media arts.

Brockbank's family could not be reached to comment.
